Goddess ARTEMIS to NASA’s mission ARTEMIS

Every time old comes in a new way.

Next year, in 2021, Nasa will launch a new project. It is named Mission Artemis. They were promised the first woman and the next man to land on the moon within 2024. Do you know who Artemis is?

Artemis is the Greek goddess of the moon, hunting, wilderness and childbirth. She is the daughter of Zeus, the ruler of all gods in mount Olympus and Leto, the goddess of motherhood. She is also the twin sister of Apollo, god of sun and light. Maybe following the mission “Apollo11”, Nasa named after the first woman on the moon landing mission “Artemis”.

Artemis represents young women. She got this boon from her father, Zeus. According to mythology, when she was three years old her father sat her on his lap and asked her what gifts she would like. Knowing her father’s power, the young Artemis was not shy of asking eternal virginity. She was given such gifts as a silver bow made by the Cyclopes and a pack of hunting dogs from the pan, Artemis was, then, regarded as a goddess of hunting and wild nature and a mistress of the animals. For this reason, she is associated with wild animals (especially young ones), forests, and the moon. Her main role was described in Homer’s Illiad as the “Archer Goddess”.

Artemis is a very powerful character in greek mythology and Nasa put this name in their first female astronaut mission in a beautiful way.

This mission is designed in three steps. As a first step, Nasa is now launching a powerful new rocket, the Space Launch System, which will go without the crew in 2021. The mission’s name will be Artemis I. In the second step, they will send an SLS and Orion test flight with the crew and the name will be Artemis II. In the third step, Artemis III will be launched with the first woman on the Moon in 2024.

This mission will establish new technology,new identity and may be it will be one step forward approach for the inhabitation in the Mars.
